LEARN THE FUTURE AT OUR COMPUTER HUT!

We are particularity proud of our Computer Hut and our Computer Club. There are 9 computers for training and practice. All are connected to the Internet, scanners and printers.
Classes are held on a regular basis for Beginners, Windows, Desktop Publishing, Genealogy and Quicken. This is the home of the Lazy River Computer Club, we call it the "Hut". It is open regularly for members to use the computers for personal matters, including email and internet access

Our Computer Club has had an annual membership of over 100 members in the past few years. We have lots of sharing of tips and ideas among our members. This helps the membership use our computers more effectively.

PARTY ROOM

This is our beautiful card room that is in constant use for everything from poker and bridge to euchre.
It also makes a great meeting room and is also used for Club parties and private parties.

TENNIS ANYONE?

Tennis is big in Lazy River. This is the reason that we have 2 courts and one is even lighted for night use. There is a very active Tennis Club and instructions are free. Membership fees are low and a ball machine lets you practice at your leisure.

SWIMMING POOL

Swimming is popular in our own heated swimming pool. If you just want to lay around on our chaise lounges or swim laps, its up to you. Of course if you want some easy exercise, you can join the morning exercise group in the water.

WOODWORKERS

Here is your chance to use a beautifully equipped shop, join a great group of fellows and yes maybe even a few gals. The shop is safe, clean and instruction and all the help you need is provided.

Exercise Room & More to Come

There are big things afoot with the exercise room with a new building,a hot tub, exercise room, change room and pool lounge area.

OUR LIBRARY

Many of us enjoy the use of our free library. One of its main features are the large assortment of books and items given to us by residents.
We also have magazines, books on tape, VCRs and reference material.

POT LUCK DINNERS

We have many good cooks at Lazy River. Our pot luck dinners are a tasty event. They are held in our Clubhouse Hall. The stage is often used for entertainers who are booked by our Entertainment committee.

BOAT CLUB

We have an active Boat Club. Besides interesting monthly meetings, many with dinner included, they arrange cruises, up and down the Myaka River for boat club members. They even have organized cruises for all in the Carribean (not with their own boats). They have an annual blessing of the fleet, where the members decorate their boats as can be seen in our picture. There is also an annual Commodore's Ball.

ARMCHAIR AEROBICS

Armchair Aerobics is taught every Tuesday and Thursday morning

by Alita Marlow at 8:15 am. This is not just "finger exercise". We dare you to join us and not work up a sweat (or should I say 'glow' since we are ladies?). It's a fun class and will energize you.

10 SHUFFLEBOARD COURTS

We have 10 shuffleboard courts and an active shuffleboard group. There are league competitions on Mondays at 7:00 pm and Thursdays at 9:30 am and an active shuffleboard club.

There is also a traveling team for interpark competition. Our shufflers have held the interpark league championship for 3 years in a row. Congratulations--good job!

DANCE CLUB

The dance club at Lazy river hosts monthly dances. It also arranges for classes in ballroom dance and square dance in the clubhouse.

LAZY RIVER CLOGGERS

Our cloggers have lessons once a week, and perform within the village. They travel to other parks and churches. They have also danced at fund raisers within the area.

It also includes local advertisers that make it easier to find reliable and local merchants.

2. Our volunteer security patrol is out every night with phone connection to the Sarasota Sheriffs office.
